Cupcake genius Casey Shiller of Jilly’s Cafe and Cupcake Bar is now two for three on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. “The neverending battle for cupcake dominance” went Shiller’s way for the second time Sunday night in an episode themed to Miami’s South Beach Wine and Food Festival. Food Network’s Cupcake Wars: The Final Frontier

Chefs Casey Shiller, Certified Executive Pastry Chef, and Dana Holland, executive chef of Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe appeared in the third episode of the third season of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, which aired Tuesday, June 28. Teammates Shiller and Holland competed against three other teams in a nationally-televised baking battle for a $10,000 grand prize. Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe is the first St. Louis-based business to appear on Cupcake Wars, as well as the first team in the show’s history to represent a business from the state of Missouri – and now the first team from Missouri to win!

The episode was titled The Final Frontier, an outer space theme where bakers competed to have their tasty treats front and center at a VIP party honoring the first man in space. View epsode information and recipe for Banana Toffee Cupcakes.

Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe won the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” competition in June, 2011. Now the St. Louis bakery and restaurant is expanding its University City store amid record sales. A new entrance, additional seating, a larger kitchen, plus an observation window into the cupcake-decorating studio were among the changes at Jilly’s when it reopened Sept. 16 after an 11-day remodel. Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe took home a win last night on the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars”. Chefs Casey Shiller and Dana Holland won with four space-themed cupcakes in an episode called “Final Frontier.” The winning desserts included a pineapple and mango cupcake evoking the sun; a cupcake with banana, caramel, toffee and astronaut ice cream; one with almonds and orange Tang; and a chocolate cupcake garnished with raspberries and raspberry fizz candy. St. Louis bakers win ‘Cupcake Wars’ Tube Talk by Gail Pennington

Executive pastry chef Casey Shiller of Jilly’s Cupcake Bar in University City rocketed past three competitors on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” Tuesday night. Assisted by chef Dana Holland, Shiller – a self-proclaimed “space geek” – served up three rounds of cupcakes for a party marking the 50th anniversary of the first American in space. For the final round, he even designed a replica of Alan Shepard’s Mercury capsule that an astronaut-judge called perfect. Read her full article.

When Jilly’s cupcakes become deluxe ice creams, the transformation loses nothing in the process. The Space Monkey flavor, for instance, is chocolate-banana ice cream with banana-toffee cake morsels, toffee bits, and caramel and cream-cheese icing swirled in. Books came to life with baked goods and pastries at the St. Louis Public Library. Jilly’s brought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory alive with delightful cupcakes. Casey Shiller, from Jilly’s, brought some of the cupcakes to the station to share with Tim Ezell. You can buy them this month at the cupcake palace on Delmar Boulevard. Did you see the amazing desserts inspired by fiction? The pastry creations by St. Louis chefs were part of a fundraiser Friday at the St. Louis Public Library. If you want just a little taste of some of the treats, the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” cupcakes created by Jilly’s will be on sale this month at the cupcake palace on Delmar Boulevard. A Taste of Fiction Serves Literature-Inspired Sweets at
Central Library on March 7

Mini-cupcakes inspired by characters from Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be served, created by chef Casey Shiller of Jilly’s Cupcake Bar & Cafe.
